Reason 1  Thistle Island is located in the pristine waters of South Australia’s Spencer Gulf approximately 20nm  SSE of  Port Lincoln. 

Reason 2 Access to Thistle Island is via air or boat/sailing vessel.  Of practical benefit is the all weather airstrip with lights. Thistle Island Airstrip is capable of handling single, twin engine aircraft and executive jets.

Reason 3 A feature is the refurbished  (recently) landing  jetty with hoist for those arriving by sea. Great fishing structure too!!

Reason 4 A Caretaker is resident on the Island  living in what is known as Cosy Cottage. This too has been very recently refurbished with new kitchen and septic tank. Each landholder owns 1/50 share in Cosy Cottage.

Reason 5   There are only 50 residential blocks on the Island. Each lot owner also owns 1/50 of the Island.
